    Amerit Fleet Solutions is seeking an experienced and deadline-driven Payroll Clerk to join our Corporate team in Walnut Creek, CA.

    **This position is a temporary opportunity with full-time hours**

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    Our Payroll Clerk will ensure accurate processing and recording of company’s payroll, provide timely and accurate financial information, participate in daily data entry Payroll processing.     Key Competencies and Minimum Education

    • Weekly payroll processing of (7) payroll cycles for 1800+ employees and multi-state, ensuring the processes are running effectively and accurately
    • Work alongside Benefit & HR Team members to assure their input was accurate using queries to validate
    • Review, interpret and maintain garnishments, levies and child support orders in accordance with Federal, State and local regulations.
    • Back up for task of processing 401k contribution file to Plan Administrator VOYA
    • Acts as the first level of escalation for questions and issues that Payroll team members are not able to resolve.
    • Processing of W-4, Direct deposit forms, Live in/Work in State form, State withholding form, local tax forms
    • Responsible for payroll and related benefits accounts reconciliations and resolve any unreconciled items appropriately with HR
    • Back up for task of processing HSA Employee and Employer contribution file to Health Equity Carrier
    • Assist with month-end close and ad hoc projects as needed.
    • Timesheet tracking analysis; includes follow up with employees and managers for timely entry and approvals.
    • Processing termination payouts and any off-cycle checks requested, including wires and ACH payments
    • Monitoring Zendesk and assigning emails, as needed
    • Review, audit, reconcile and correct/update payroll prior to transmission to ensure proper pay calculations, tax calculations, and general ledger/treasury processes are performed completely, accurately and in compliance with company policy, federal, state and local regulations.
    • Preparation of FedEx labels for live checks to be mailed
    • Profile and issuance of Payroll pay cards for new enrollments
    • Scanning and filing needs for payroll documents
    • Preparation of documents for subpoenas




    • Requires a minimum of 5+ years experience with full-cycle multi-state payroll (weekly)
    • Bachelors degree in Business, Accounting or Finance preferred
    • Working knowledge and experience with multi-state payroll and payroll tax rules and regulations in the US (federal, state, local)
    • Current experience and in-depth knowledge of payroll systems and reporting functions, PeopleSoft Payroll preferred (ADP)
    • Advanced Excel skills required
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in addition to strong problem solving skills
    • Ability to provide excellent customer service and work well in teams to establish and maintain effective working relationships
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-growing environment where change is the norm; strong multi-tasking skills, and flexibility to switch from one project to the next quickly
    • Demonstrated ability to hold information confidential with use of appropriate judgment when handling sensitive data

    • Familiarity with the following is a plus: Zendesk, MS Office, ADP Smart Compliance (Garnishments/Tax/W2 Year end statements)
