Amerit Fleet Solutions, one of the leading fleet maintenance companies in the US, is looking to hire a skilled Diesel Mechanic in Hampton, Georgia! The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for the timely repair and maintenance of medium to heavy-duty fleet vehicles and trailers to ensure a safe and efficient operation. The Diesel Mechanic position requires a high level of proficiency and working knowledge related to heavy-duty Diesel Engine diagnosis and repair. Comprehension of Fleet Maintenance operations, understanding of electrical, preventative maintenance, trailer repair, and DOT inspection experience and knowledge.
Compensation: Competitive Hourly Pay - Paid weekly, every Friday! $26-$32/hr DOE
Shift: Monday - Friday 7 am-3:30 pm

What the Diesel Mechanic role looks like:
- Prepare vehicle records and report both manually and on a computer
- Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on medium to heavy-duty vehicles
- Perform repairs on 18-wheeler trailers
- Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation
- Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
- Inspect and perform work on the underparts of vehicles
- Move parts to and from the job site and remove or install these parts on vehicles
- Interact with clients through both email and phone as necessary
- Perform other duties as required as the Diesel Technician
What our ideal candidate looks like:
- At least 3 years’ experience performing vehicle maintenance, or must possess an auto or diesel technology diploma from an accredited technical school
- Expertise in Cummins or Diagnostic Software due to the electrical nature of repairs on Switchers, Yard Goats
- Must provide own hand tools & toolbox.
- Knowledge of hand-held scan tools and the process of diagnosing vehicles.
- Proficient computer skills: knowledge of Excel, Word, Fleet Management Systems, and Email
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.)
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
- Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, diesel fumes, and noise.
- Exposure to chemicals, oils, greases, or other irritants
- Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance
- Ability to move and position heavy objects
- Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel,l and crawl to repair vehicles
- Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.
