Position Summary

Amerit Fleet Solutions is seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Buyer to support our centralized purchasing function and act as a key liaison for field operations nationwide. This role is instrumental in ensuring timely, cost-effective procurement of automotive parts, equipment, and supplies that keep our operations running efficiently.

The Senior Buyer will play a critical role in driving purchase order (PO) turnaround time, managing vendor relationships, and supporting field teams by resolving escalations and aligning sourcing with operational needs. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of centralized purchasing, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to navigate high-volume environments with urgency and accuracy.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead procurement activities within the centralized purchasing function, ensuring alignment with company contracts, supplier programs, and operational timelines.
  • Serve as a responsive contact for field operations, supporting urgent sourcing needs and resolving escalations related to parts availability, pricing, or delivery.
  • Maintain accountability for purchase order (PO) turnaround time, ensuring that requisitions are processed promptly to meet service expectations and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with Category Managers and the Sourcing team to support supplier transitions, pricing updates, and product availability.
  • Partner with warehouse and inventory teams to ensure purchasing aligns with stocking strategies and usage trends.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline purchasing workflows and reduce order cycle times.
  • Maintain accurate PO records, manage open order follow-ups, and work closely with finance to resolve invoice exceptions.
  • Support catalog development and cleanup efforts, including part number standardization and vendor consolidation.
  • Monitor and analyze purchasing data to drive performance improvements and support reporting on key KPIs, including PO cycle time and supplier responsiveness.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, internal departments, and field leadership.

Key Competencies and Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in purchasing or procurement, ideally supporting distributed field operations in automotive or fleet services.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive parts and supplier networks.
  • Proven track record of managing high-volume purchasing and improving PO turnaround time.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Comfortable working across teams and resolving vendor or operational challenges in real time.
