Position Summary

Amerit Fleet Solutions, one of the leading fleet maintenance companies in the US, is looking to hire a skilled HR Compliance Manager. The HR Compliance Manager is responsible for leading the company’s HR compliance strategy and ensuring ongoing adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws—particularly in California—and supporting compliance matters for unionized employees. This role owns the compliance framework for the HR function, proactively monitors regulatory changes, oversees audits and reporting, develops and maintains compliant policies and procedures, and builds awareness and accountability across the HR and business community.

 

Compensation: Competitive Salary Pay - Paid weekly, every Friday! Pay range: $80,000-120,000 annually depending on experience!

 

Shift: M-F 8am-5pm

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Compliance Strategy & Risk Management

  • Develop, maintain, and manage a comprehensive HR compliance framework across all HR functional areas.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate HR compliance risks through policy development, control implementation, and education.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on multi-state employment law, including CA-specific laws, federal regulations, and collective bargaining requirements.
  • Support compliance for union employees in collaboration with the Human Resources Business Partner.

Audits, Investigations & Reporting

  • Lead regular internal HR compliance audits; track issues to resolution and implement best-practice corrective actions.
  • Conduct or oversee audits of processes, practices, and data to ensure legal and policy adherence.
  • Research, prepare, and respond to claims, regulatory inquiries, and audits.
  • Aggregate and analyze HR data to develop actionable compliance reports and dashboards for leadership.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of required federal and state reports (EEO-1, pay data, etc.).

Policy Development & Implementation

  • Develop, revise, and maintain HR policies and procedures to align with evolving laws and business needs.
  • Oversee implementation of changes required due to legal or regulatory updates.

Training, Communication & Culture

  • Deliver and support training programs for HR and business leaders on compliance matters (e.g., wage & hour, leave laws, meal & rest breaks, documentation best practices).
  • Promote a culture of integrity and compliance across all levels of the organization.
  • Serve as a mentor to HR team members and help build cross-functional compliance capabilities.

Key Competencies and Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive HR compliance and regulatory experience.
  • Deep knowledge of federal and California employment laws; familiarity with laws across other key U.S. states.
  • Experience supporting unionized environments and interpreting collective bargaining agreements.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting audits, managing compliance investigations, and responding to legal/regulatory claims.
  • Ability to interpret legislation, perform legal research, and translate complex compliance issues into business solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to build relationships across HR, Legal, Operations, and senior leadership.
  • Proficiency in HRIS (PeopleSoft preferred) and reporting/analytics tools.
