Position Summary

 The Lead Trailer Mechanic in City of Industry CA will be responsible for timely repair and maintenance of light, medium, or heavy duty Trailers to ensure a safe and efficient fleet of Heavy-Duty Trailers as well as managing employees and garage operations. Also Lathrop location onsite repairs.

 

$33.00 hr - $36.00 hr DOE

 

Monday -  Friday

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

What the Lead Diesel /Trailer Mechanic Technician role looks like:

  • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance to heavy-duty Class 7 - 8 trailers, dollies, and switchers
  • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance to Class 7-8 Trailers
  • Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures 
  • Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance
  • Coordinate with Fleet manager in completing shift work
  • Able to supervise 2 or more other employees, while working
  • Must update work orders, close work orders, and work with drivers
  • Must maintain, order, and update parts inventory
  • Prepare vehicle records and report both manually and on a computer
  • Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation required
  • Inspect and perform work on the under parts of vehicles
  • Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance
  • Move parts to and from the job site and remove or install these parts on vehicle
  • Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
  • Perform other duties as required

Key Competencies and Minimum Education

What our ideal candidate looks like:

  • At least 1 year Ordering Parts, Vending out Repairs and Maintaining a service truck.
  • At least 1-3 years experience as a Lead Diesel /Trailer Mechanic Technician performing vehicle repair and maintenance or must possess an auto or diesel technology diploma from an accredited technical school.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficient computer skills
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • At least 5 years experience performing vehicle maintenance or must possess auto or diesel technology diploma from an accredited technical school
  • ASE Certifications preferred
  • Commercial Driver’s License class “A” or “B “ preferred
  • Must be able to operate a manual transmission vehicle to determine if operating properly
  • Must provide own hand tools & toolbox.
  • Knowledge of hand held scan tools and the process of diagnosing vehicles.
  • Ability to read schematics and familiar with process
  • Proficient computer skills: knowledge of Excel, Word, Fleet Management Systems, and Email
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.)

Working Conditions

  • Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
  • Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, diesel fumes and noise.

  • Ability to move and position heavy objects.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl to repair vehicles
  • Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.
