Position Summary

Amerit Fleet Solutions, one of the leading Fleet Maintenance and repair services companies in the U.S., is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our growing team.  This highly visible role is responsible for completing month-end closing procedures including but not limited to journal entries, reconciliations, and ad hoc analysis in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures. The ideal candidate possesses leadership capabilities, solid operational and technical accounting background and works proactively to drive results. This person is a self-starter, flexible, has a high level of integrity and is action and goal-oriented in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with the month-end closing process and communicate with other departments to ensure all information requirements and reporting deadlines are met including relevant reporting and financial schedules.
  • Research and resolve the proper accounting treatment for transactions relevant to assigned areas of responsibility in accordance with GAAP and established Company policy.
  • Work cross-functionally with various departments to provide financial analysis and relevant reporting.
  • Review, prepare, upload and manually post journal entries and accruals.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation of payroll subledgers to the General Ledger.
  • Support the annual external audit through organization and preparation of financial records.
  • Assist with accounting process redesign, documentation and automation including implementation of key accounting systems.
  • Provide financial support to business leaders in forecasting and annual budgeting plan analysis.
  • Prepare complex ad hoc business analysis, including financial models and detailed reconciliations, and analysis of key performance indicators.
  • Proactively investigate questionable data and escalate findings where appropriate.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records and reports.
  • Ensure adequate financial and internal controls.

Key Competencies and Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3 to 5 years minimum industry experience and/or public accounting.
  • Knowledge and solid experience with US GAAP and ASC606.
  • Proficiency in accounting software programs and MS Office applications.
  • Advanced Excel User (ability to manipulate and validate high volumes of data is essential) and familiarity with data analysis tools including V-Lookup and pivot tables.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to evaluate and prioritize workload while meeting tight deadlines in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, teamwork, collaboration, flexibility and proactiveness.
  • High degree of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills to drive results, develop, and manage diverse accounting staff.
  • PeopleSoft experience strongly desired.
